2006 Tournament
The first Friends of Crystal Beach "3 on 3 Basketball"Tournament was held as a part of the Crystal Beach Festival on Saturday July 29th. The parking lot of the Crystal Chandelier served as host to the tourney and the 9 teams of boys and girls that played. Age group winners were:
13 - 14 year olds - The coed team of Tia, Mary Jean, Matt and Mark aka "The Comet II's" won a hard fought 2 out of 3 games to claim the championship.

11 - 12 year olds - This division had 5 teams competing for top honors. The highlight of the tournament was the finals of this division. Facing off were the "NBA All-Stars" vs. "The Heat". Under a blazing sun in hot and humid conditions these two teams battled evenly for over 30 minutes without either giving an inch. The score was 8 to 7 at halftime and the two teams continued to battle from there. When all was said and done and the dust settled in the paint the scoreboard showed(with Maddie's help) the NBA All-Stars had come away with a 2 point sudden death thrilling victory. The "NBA All-Stars" were made up of Austin, Kacey, and Lucas.
11-12 yr. old Champions
Congratulations to all of our competitors, the parents and friends that cheered them on along with the casual spectators who just stopped to see what was happening on Erie Rd. The most satisfying thing for those who helped run the tournament was the sportsmanship and conduct of all the kids who took part. Well done Crystal Beach!
